Today I am your world
You were formed in my womb
And there you only knew warmth and safety
It was I that pained and laboured for your birth
That precious little hand around my finger curled
Never could I imagine the love in my heart to find more room
As you stare up at me now so intently and innocently
Truly there can be nothing more beautiful on this whole earth
Yet, tomorrow you are a woman
Being formed into who God has made you to be
Living life confidently and independently
Putting your hand into the hand of your forever
So please forgive me if I need to remind myself yet again
You were not meant to remain little as I wished you to be
I’m learning that there is more to your world than me
Know that you are part of my world – always and forever
