Something I have found easy to do is romanticise the Bible. We look at the account of Esther for example – a beautifully brave woman who went from a “nobody” to the queen of the most powerful nation of its day. But Esther went through hardships and chose God in the mundane of life. She lost her parents, was abruptly taken from her home, chose to potentially sacrifice herself for her people, and likely didn’t have a love marriage.

What am I trying to say? Am I just being pessimistic?

The concept of romanticising the Bible has been on my heart much lately. What I am attempting to convey is that these people that were greatly used of God in the Bible chose God in the quiet mundane.

I think we wish to be like these Biblical heros, but are we – am I faithful to my mission? Am I seeking God daily? Am I serving my family? Am I showing Christ’s love to others? Am I extending forgiveness?

My life will be forgotten and time will go on. But what will be the impact I have? May every person that knows me have Jesus on their lips. This was the mission of Esther and so many others. Did they mess up? Of course. Did they faithfully chose to serve Jesus despite extremely uncomfortable circumstances? Yes.

This world wasn’t created for my comfort, but for His glory!
